I absolutely loved this place. Food was excellent! I had the snow crab and they were fantastic and a lot! My entire family of 6 enjoyed everything. Management was very attentive making sure the wait staff was doing a good job...and there were.... We will go back often when in town

Our Airbnb host recommended this place and wow it did not disappoint. My husband and I arrived a little after 4:30 and it was about a 20 min wait for 2 people. During the time we waited, it quickly rose to over an hour wait! There is a tiki bar area you can grab a drink while you wait. The parking situation was stressful. Even though they had 3 or 4 lots, they were all full. It took my husband a little bit to find a parking spot. The food was amazing. They had nightly specials and I got the Maine Attraction while my husband got the Captain's Platter. Compared to a seafood restaurant we went to the night prior, the price was similar but we got so much more such as half a lobster, shrimp, and scallops along with our fish. I wish we lived close to take advantage of the market portion as well.

I had the most fantastic experience at Walt's! The oysters were so delicious... I ordered a half pound of Stone crab to go, so very tasty and fresh. I might have to go back there again today! By far the best dining experience I have enjoyed here in Sarasota. Great service and ambience, the bartender Ross was awesome as well as all the staff that served us. I am very particular about seafood, and I have to say this seafood, is as good as it gets...very, fresh and dangerously delicious! EXACTLY what I was looking for. I highly recommend Walt's to anyone looking for a delicious seafood experience here in Sarasota. Clearly evident that everybody else was enjoying their meals as well. Great energy, good vibes. I was disappointed by other establishments in my quest for fresh delectable seafood, crab in particular and finally found the best place! Cheers to Walt's!

Great spot with a tiki bar vibe and fun decor. We stopped by during happy hour and enjoyed the happy hour margaritas and draft beer. The complimentary fish dip was a nice touch. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp OBG style (old bay and garlic butter). They were yummy! We also got the Siesta Salad with blackened grouper which came with a generous amount of blue cheese and veggies. The citrus vinaigrette was light and flavorful. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest which put a damper on our experience but the food was good.

A friend took me here and I can say I have never had shrimp taste so great! I had it grilled without the garlic and they followed my special requests perfectly. The shrimp was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted so delicious. I never knew it could be so good. They serve a white fish and tartar sauce dip with crackers that was delusion as well. Not fishy one bit. This coming from the most skeptical fish eater there ever was. Tartar sauce homemade so not typical or loaded with pickles nor tart and sour. The salad -forgot the name but it had mandarin oranges, blueberries, strawberries, etc, feta and a house made poppyseed dressing and it too was superb! My friend has seafood fettuccine and loved it too. He eats a great deal of seafood all over and tells me this is always a fav! The service was also above and beyond. We were given a 15 min seating time but were seated in about 7 min. even though they were jam packed on a Sunday early afternoon. Big place too. Inside and exterior seating. Didn't wait long for our food and it arrived hot. I was very impressed and can't wait to return!

Visiting from Southern California for a week of opera in Sarasota (FL's 'Cultural Coast'), I discovered Walt's Fish on the way to a nature outing in Myakka River Park. Wow this is seriously good bang for the buck. In L.A. my meal would have cost north of $70 before tax and tip. * The clam chowder looks thick but it's actually not, perfect consistency with juicy chunks of clam in every spoon. * The garlic parmesan oyster was good, but I prefer mine char-broiled with no cheese (very few restaurants serve that... just an idea for owner Brett :)) * Brett's Steamed Pot from the daily specials menu. At $30 it's an unbeatable deal -- big snow crab legs and claw, mussels, potato, corn, and a heap of perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp. Walts's Fish Market & Restaurant is an inspiring American success story of a Swedish immigrant family. During my short stay in Sarasota, I have also eaten at Owen's Fish Camp. I prefer Walt's because it's slightly cheaper, not as loud, and the food is just as good!

Sooo delicious, and so worth the wait. Just looking at their display counter at their market, you can tell you are getting just what they promise ... FRESH Seafood. The conch fritters were tasty, the steamed shrimp were just a tad overcooked, but still better than anyplace else in Sarasota. Our server was delightful and we both agreed that we should give Walt's 5 stars. Be prepared to wait... but it is worth the wait. And although we were expecting a 20 min wait, we were seated after only 12 min!! ***parking is a bear, but there is more parking in the lot across from the entrance.

Walts are our go-to place when we are visiting family because everything you get here is phenomenal. The atmosphere is fantastic for a family gathering, a date, or just because you want to enjoy some excellent food. The service is always impeccable. They have seating inside and outside, and there is often a wait, so just be ready. The food is worth it. It is one of the best seafood places anywhere. Their seafood is of the highest standard and delicious. I wish I could eat here every time, but I have to share the love a little. We shared a dozen oysters, Caesar salad, a grouper plate, and a shrimp basket. I think I have tried to eat as much of this menu as possible because everything is so good.
